Celebrate Lift Off Hood Style...with a Tour!
04/26/17 at 22:17:51

What the heck is the 50th Anniversary Tour? Well instead of having just one location for a reunion that is not always convenient in both timing and location for all....for the big 50 years of the special A12 Package lets celebrate this special year with multiple stops across North America and maybe even worldwide? Just like the old days when you couldn't wait til your favourite band made it to your town in the summer...we are going to have multiple locations for the Lift Off Hood cars to gather. To pull that off we are going to have to work together and identify locations that would support a gathering of at least 10 to 12 Lift Off Hood cars.  We will need point men at every location to organize and plan.

In no particular order and certainly not limited to here is a start list

Carlisle - Carlisle PA
Mopars at the Park - Farmington, MN
Mopar Nats - Columbus OH
Woodward Dream Cruise - Detroit MI
Moparfest - New Hamburg ON Canada
Big Daddy's - Ocala, FL
Spring Fling - Van Nuys, CA
MCACN - Chicago IL

Also on the radar are stops in Texas, Washington State, Alberta and Quebec....plus whatever venues that we as a group can come up with.

A big part of it will be an Official Tour Shirt with all the locations and dates...I can't wait to see what Tim can come up with.

I personally will be looking forward to a 10 day window in August of 2019 when first the Mopar Nats, followed by the Woodward Dream Cruise and Moparfest all fall directly after each other. The will be an awesome Hat Trick of stops....and even if you can make only two out of three...that ain't bad.

So start planning...weather that means buying, restoring, waxing, or whatever....you got no excuse to getting that A12 car(s) of yours out and to be part of the once in a lifetime event....the 50th A12 Anniversary Tour!

I can start spreading the word out over here if you like, Dave. I suspect there are around a dozen A12's in Australia tho i've never seen any of them, other than mine of course, in the flesh. We may be able to get a few small get-togethers involving 2-3 cars at each, probably Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth.

MCACN  in Chicago is always looking for special multi vehicle displays, wouldn't it be a sight to flood the show with A12's.
Two years ago,  there was a display with 27 of the 49? Hemi E-body convertibles built, it was impressive.

Central New York Mopar Association "Mopar Madness" show held at Longbranch Park in Liverpool, NY. (Near Syracuse) would be an excellent location. There are a lot of A12's just in the area and I am sure the association would jump at the chance to host & headline the gathering in their advertising. Wink

I think anywhere that you could get a 10 to 12 car minimum turnout would be a good stop in the tour. Anyone who thinks of a good show let run it by the group.

That sounds like a great idea.  I could probably help at the mopar nats.   I can't wait to finally see your car, Dave C.  I would limit it to 3 or 4 shows to meet at or you will only get 10 cars to show up,  and honestly, I could get 10 A12 cars to show up in my driveway at my house with a little bit of notice

I'm trying to coordinate a mini-meeting at the Hemi Hideout with John Hovas for the Texas connection A12 reunion stop.  Not real sure how practical it'll be though.  "Tejas" is a big state, far to get down here to Houston,  but I'm pretty sure it would be a cool venue.  I'll keep you guys posted!

Cheers

That would be cool. With more people volunteering to do certain shows they will bring there own flavour to it. Consider yourself volunteered Gary!

Your are right Dave...walking in and seeing a couple of rows of Lift Off Hood cars would be very cool!

I know there were a lot of A12's sold new in that area...if you think that 10, 12 or more would show up. I can speak first hand it is a great place for a show. I have enjoyed it in the past.

I don't think we want to do 2 or 3 car shows...its the 50th so maybe get everyone to one show? Might not be possible I know.
