There used to be a Hemi Orange A12 4spd Bee around my area that was a radio delete car. No antenna hole in the fender & no patch or chrome plug. It was ordered "stripped" for drag racing..... Wink

Mine was a radio delete car. The guy I bought it from cut the hole in it but it was in the wrong place on the fender. He later plugged the hole.

I've seen the hole in the wrong place on original cars.

This is only what he was told.  He did not witness a radio delete fender being cut. People make up stories all the time.

You said he did not witness the radio delete fender being cut. Was you there? If you would reread my post, he cut the hole in the fender and he later filled it in.

I looked at this vehicle the other day.  A treasure trove of information.  A "radio delete" car is a vehicle ordered without a radio.  See attached window sticker.

Right Fender on this car.  Notice the radio antennae hole added through the cowl.

Over the last few months I have parted out 2 Coronet hulls.  The first was a SL car and I found the plug from a hole saw (hog bit) stuck in the seam sealer on the corner of the frame in front of the right door.  I didn't think anything of it until I was working on another car built in LA and found the same exact plug wedged in the right front fender.

All cars started life without a radio as illustrated by the window sticker above.  I believe all right front fenders started life exactly the same way, no hole for the radio.  When a radio was ordered, the antenna hole was cut in during the BIW process.  There was just one part number for the fender(s) and they were modified to fit the model/trim/radio options.

The picture of the plug below shows the small piece that originated from the two alignment holes drilled prior to the larger hole saw that cut through the center of them.  This small piece was actually attached to the back of the plug but fell off when I started to examine it.  I am trying to get a picture of this same piece lodged in the seam sealer from the SL car.

Thoughts?

I checked the Engineering Graphics (only have the ones for Charger fenders, sorry) for 1968, 1969 & 1970.  They show the respective fender part number with no distinction for whether the car was equipped with an antenna/radio.  It's then pretty easy to conclude that the fender's antenna hole was cut only if the car had an antenna.  That's backed up by the empirical evidence of the holesaw plugs Darrin posted earlier.

Something I had NOT thought about before... the hole in the inner cowl for the antenna is shown to get a rubber .75" plug (2860332) if there was no antenna - which means that particular hole was present on all cars, radio or not.  Presence of that plug might indicate a no-radio-optioned car.  I haven't seen one of those OEM assembly-line cowl plugs in person, so I don't know if they had an embossed part number on them or not.  It was the same plug for at least those three model years, and I'm 99% sure it would have been the same any B-body.
