Both or these thing would be subjective to the human ear and I assume is an overlooked rule? Can someone that is active in this venue chime in on this?

Dave Watt A12 Moderator A12 numbers guy Posts: 1729	Re: FAST engine rules Reply #6 - 02/06/10 at 22:24:50 I've spectated and participated in the Factory Stock class at the F.A.S.T. races. I'm no expert but my opinion is that "sounding stock" is a very loose rule. Some of the compression ratios are very high and can make the exhaust note very crisp compared to an engine down in the 10.5:1 ratio.

Unfortunaltely mine isnt one of them, mine resembles a 225 6 clynider. I used to like it so quitet now it really bores me with the skinny tires and wimpy sounding motor. But at least under full throttle it sounds like a muscle car.
