FAST engine rules
02/05/10 at 21:26:09

Getting ready to build my engine. What can and can't I do to stay legal if I ever wanted to race? Can I port, stroke, polish, embellish, use 906 "F" heads?! Smiley
Thanks for any info

as long as you are using correct block and heads. Pretty much everything else goes.

I have read those rules completely and I seem to recall there is a statement about the car SOUNDING stock with regards to the cam and exhaust. Both or these thing would be subjective to the human ear and I assume is an overlooked rule?

Can someone that is active in this venue chime in on this?

69 440 hp block, 906 F heads, (worked) stroked, roller rockers, not sure what cam yet, 2.5 exhaust. Yes, the rules state must sound stock?

I've spectated and participated in the Factory Stock class at the F.A.S.T. races. I'm no expert but my opinion is that "sounding stock" is a very loose rule. Some of the compression ratios are very high and can make the exhaust note very crisp compared to an engine down in the 10.5:1 ratio.

Ya no doubt, Ive even heard some of the pure stock cars sound more like a pro stocker.  Unfortunaltely mine isnt one of them, mine resembles a 225 6 clynider. I used to like it so quitet now it really bores me with the skinny tires and wimpy sounding motor.  But at least under full throttle it sounds like a muscle car.
