Is there an area to load or unload your car on the grounds or near?  Just wondering in case I can't shake my car out to stable before I get there, although looking at google earth it looks like the holiday inn is just a few miles away?  The wheel might break off or something.

Mark,
You can unload inside the gate, at the parking area(if you have a parking pass), or even in the showfield area.  It's pretty easy to get around the fairgrounds.

Do you know when you will be leaving Denver?

The Mighty Mopar Legacy

They once roamed the face of the North American continent in great numbers. They were awesome, powerful beasts, shaking the earth beneath them. While they existed, they were feared by the weak. Their stay on this planet was brief - less than two decades. They are gone now - extinct. A few remain, like massive metal dinasaurs. They were the Mighty Mopars, and we will never see their like again.

If you want, you can unload it and pull it inside at one of our camp spots.

I'm hoping to leave tuesday morning which should put me in your part of town by the end of the day Frank, and then you had planned to leave wendsday  morning, is that right?  I haven't made any room reservations along the route though, I figured it'd be easier to wing it since I don't know my way around.  Don't know if my brother plans on making the trip yet.
If I could get the trailer onto the grounds that might make it easier to unload the both the car and the half dozen or so cases of beer I have sitting here for you guys. I'll bring a couple of different flavors.

Frank, when do you expect to pull through the Iowa City area? The stars have not perfectly aligned, but they are close enough that I can connect the dots. I got the drive train back together only to discover the radiator has a massive leak...hope to get it repaired tomorrow. If all comes together, I could meet along I80 around Iowa City to caravan with you guys. I will be traveling to PA by myself, so if anyone has crowded travel arrangement or wants to keep me company, you are welcome to jump on board.

Mark,
I am north of I80 by 100+ miles so should meet up with you Omaha or so.  I was hoping to be on the road by 6:00am Wednesday from Stanton, which would put me on I-29 south, picking up I-80 East, on the east edge of Omaha, by around 8:00 to 8:30.  2 hours to Des Moines and another 2 to Iowa City with maybe one fuel stop.

***EDIT*** Rethinking that schedule, if you are in Omaha overnight it would be good to get going a little earlier-maybe leave Omaha by 6:30 or 7:00.   We can easily be down there by then and move the whole schedule up by an hour or two.

Jim, we could meet in Iowa City and be on the road by 1:00 to 1:30.  East on  I-80 to I-55 and on the southwest side of Chicago by 5:30 or 6:00.  I do need to stop and see my aunt and uncle since I am overnighting there(and picking up my dad for the rest of the trip) before coming over to Gary's, but they're only 20 minutes apart or so.

How does that sound for you guys?  All subject to chaos, of course!

Frank

Frank, that sound good. Since this is my first trip to Carlisle, it will be great to have someone that knows the ropes to tag along with. I will be staying at the Holiday Inn.

Yo, Mark,

What do you think about leaving Omaha by 6:00am or so on the 8th to get a good start on the day?  That would put us in the Iowa City area by around 10:30 or 11:00 and give us more time at the end of the day.  We should try to meet up and leave Chicago by 6:00am because it is a long drive Thursday.

Jim,  Would that work for you?

Frank

PS,  Will anyone else want to meet up along I-80 as we make our way across IN and OH?

I have to be totally honest here, I am so not a morning person.  I've only had one day job in my life and it only lasted a month, the only reason to be up that early is if you're coming home from her house.   Cheesy
Okay, we can aim for 6 am with the disclaimer of, if my brother and niece start slowing things up too much you guys that you go on ahead and we'll catch up you by the end of the day.
I think I've found a decent place to stay the night in omaha, but can anybody recommend a reasonably SAFE part of chicago to stay in?
I've mentioned to dre about joining the lot of us, he might join the thread.

I may be able to join the caravan depending on what time and where to meet.
My woman is never ready on time so I am not really clock reliable.
Map quest shows 411.40 miles for me, 6 hrs and 55 min to get there.
I will pick up I 80 at the fremont-port clinton area and head east towards cleveland.
I will be on I 80 for 127.5 miles till I hit I 76 E/Penn turn.

If it would work out for us we would join you guys.
What time and day will you guys be around my route???

Let me know and I can check from there.
Thanks David

I'll be jumpin on the turnpike at North Lima sometime shortly after noon Thursday, I can't make it all the way to Carlisle on one tank of gas but It'd be fun to run with you guys for a while anyway. I may stop just east of breezewood for a fillup then should be good to go. undecided
