I'm coming from the denver coloradro area (1600 miles) but I'd have to think there is at least one coming from further west then that.

I would be shocked if anyone drives farther.

Maybe we should take up a small collection for the long hauler award and give them a gas card.  With those kind of miles, it is sure to come in handy.

Great idea Gary, I'd throw in some bucks. The guy who wins better have some proof.  Wink

Well Mark (a12bee), looks like you were the long haul winner. Congratulations to you and your family for making a huge commitment like this. Wish we would have talked over the weekend.

I would volunteer to take up the collection and send it to Mark, or should we just PM him for his address and send it directly?

I'm sure mark will chime in.  He probably had to stop and donate blood for gas money.  Let me know if I should paypal someone or send out a check.  It's the least we could do for a member that dedicated.

That's okay, I appreciate the offer though. When the boss said I could take the truck 'just pay for the gas' I thought I was being conservative budgeting for 10mpg.  Little did I know.  Shocked  If I'd planned a bit better I'd have taken tours of our other warehouses along the route and then been able to write most of it off.   Wink   One more day of pressing on the dollar bill deletion pedal and I'll be home sweet home.  Just happy to be part of it all.  Smiley

Home yay.  Don't have the guts to add up the gas receipts doesn't really matter though, worth every penny.  Even have a blister on the heel of my pedal mashing foot.  Cheesy

I feel your pain.  It was 4,527 driving miles for me to get my car to Alaska.  If only I was retired, rich, and stupid I could have beat your record by a few.  Grin

True, plus the bonus round with the trans. I'm semi-debating selling the trailer like you did.  It's served it's purpose.  Cheesy
If there was no time limit, work, money, house/pet watching, etc. it would be an enjoyable trip.  I really liked indiana, illinois and nebraska.
I'll add, none of the 11 states we ended up having to drive through, and even rush hour chicago traffic, nowhere has worse, reckless, inconsiderate, self important, moronic drivers then denver has.  It was completely foreign to me to not have a constant barrage of arrogance and idiocy coming at me from all sides.  My brother even said it before I did and he didn't do any of the driving.  Geez, people actually driving, actually paying attention, using turn signals, being respectful.  I wasn't sure it was even possible, you don't see any evidence of it here.
If you ever have to drive here in denver, you ain't gonna like it.

Separate thought, If any of you really feel the need to throw a few bucks my way for gas, why not sending it over to Dave for running the sites. It's the real fuel that makes things like this possible.   Smiley
